Listen up, ’cause we’re ’bout to tell you ’bout Rebbeca Marie Gomez, aka Becky G. She’s a Mexican-American singer, songwriter, rapper, actress, and model, born on March 2, 1997. Becky G started gettin’ noticed in 2011 when she started postin’ videos of herself coverin’ popular songs online.

One of her vids caught the eye of producer Dr. Luke, who offered her a joint record deal with Kemosabe Records and RCA Records. While workin’ on her debut album, Becky G collabed with artists like will.i.am, Cody Simpson, and Cher Lloyd. Her debut single, “Becky from the Block” (2013), got a lot of love when it came out. That same year, she dropped her first EP, Play It Again (2013). Her second single, “Can’t Get Enough” (2014), featured Pitbull and hit #1 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart in the US.
Becky G blew up big time with “Shower” (2014), which made it into the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single went double platinum certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which means it sold two million units in the US. After “Shower”, Becky G released “Can’t Stop Dancin’” (2014) and “Break a Sweat” (2015) as singles from her upcoming album, but they didn’t do as well. She went on a co-headlining tour with J Balvin across the US in September and October 2015. Becky G also played Valentina Galindo in two episodes of the musical TV series Empire and put out two new songs for the show’s soundtrack. She was featured on Pitbull’s song “Superstar” (2016). And she dropped her first Spanish song, “Sola,” as the lead single from her Spanish debut studio album. Becky G even acted in the 2017 movie “Power Rangers”, playin’ the Yellow Ranger Trini. She got a lotta love for her performance and made headlines for bein’ the first queer superhero in a big blockbuster film.
